'Gourmet Living' gives Crust the thumbs up

Celebrated food and lifestyle magazine ‘Gourmet Living’ has applauded Crust Gourmet Pizza Bar in Holland Village for its award-winning pizza. Below is the article as it appeared in the Oct/Nov 2010 issue's 'Dining Out' column.

Rectangular gourmet pizzas

Crust Gourmet Pizza Bar, an Australian 64-store pizza chain, has opened its first Singapore outlet in Holland Village. I give my thumbs-ups for its Moroccan lamb pizza. Its combination of Moroccan lamb, Spanish onions and baby spinach, topped with mint yogurt and lemon is a match made in heaven! So, there is no guessing why this Mediterranean-inspired pizza was an award winner at the International Pizza Expo in 2009.

Diners can also go for its five-spice pork where thin strips of crispy pork belly and pear slices are topped with wild rocket, crushed walnuts and balsamic glaze. Try its roast duck pizza if you fancy some marinated roast duck breast fillets, steamed bok choy, spring onions and sesame seeds garnished with fresh chilli. Vegetarian and seafood pizzas are also available at the store which opens from 5pm daily.

All ingredients are on display for the customers to see and the rectangular pizzas are made and cooked right in front of your eyes. Fresh meat toppings are used to reduce both saturated fat and salt content. In Australia, Crust is known for its healthier pizza and six of its pizzas had won the Australian National Heart Foundation’s “Tick of Approval” which satisfies strict standards for saturated and trans fat, sodium and fibre content.
